Glow Recipe Watermelon Mask + Moisturizer Worth It??

Is the glow recipe watermelon sleeping mask and moisturizer worth the money? Today I will give you my honest opinion about these two products. But first please follow me if you aren’t already, and enjoy!!

This mask became one of the most popular masks sold at Sephora. It sells for $45, which is quite a bit of money for a face mask. The moisturizer also became super popular and sells for $39. So these are really expensive products, but I had heard great things so I decided to test them out.

Also I have combination skin, with dry areas and oily acne prone areas. It also tends to be quite sensitive.

The Mask

On Glow Recipe’s website they say “The Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask is a luxuriously bouncy, breathable sleeping mask that smoothes and perfects skin, overnight.” It also says that when you wake up your skin will be glowing.

First let me just say I have not actually purchased either of these products, but I have a large sample of both. I wouldn’t review it if I didn’t think I had tried it out enough.

You are supposed to put this mask onto your skin as the last step of your skincare routine. It is really jelly like, which is actually pretty fun. A little goes a long way when using this sleeping mask, so you will get a lot of use out of the larger size. It soaks into your skin pretty fast but leaves a film on your skin overnight.

In the morning, I was kind of disappointed. My skin looked nice and a little more glowy, but it didn’t do as much as I was expecting. I have tried it again and I didn’t see different results. For such an expensive product I would expect to see great results within a few uses.

The only time I see nice results is when I use a serum underneath it. I think it kind of locks the serum into my skin overnight. But with such an expensive product I wanted those results with the mask alone.

In the directions of the mask, it says that it can cause your face to be sensitive to the sun. I love to be outside, but I thought this was just a warning they had to say. But in the reviews some people were saying that they did notice that their skin was sensitive to the sun. I don’t know if this was a coincidence or not but a few days after using the mask, my whole face got sunburnt. Like I said, I’m not sure if its the mask or just a normal sunburnt.

The Moisturizer

I haven’t tried the moisturizer as much as the mask, honestly because I was disappointed. It burned a little when I put it on and I didn’t see any results. I tried using it with the mask as well, but didn’t notice anything spectacular.

This moisturizer is pretty light weight and is almost the same consistency as the mask. It spreads pretty thin and doesn’t moisturize very well. I would imagine this would work great for normal to oily skin, but I am sure there are other cheaper moisturizers that do the same.

Best Dupe!

Ok hear me out, this is going to sound crazy and it kind of is. Watermelon is supposed to be extremely great for your skin. So… my sister decided to test this theory out. Basically all you do is rub watermelon all over your face. Then once it has been on your face for about 20 minutes, wash it off. I noticed that my skin looked really glowy and felt moisturized. Obviously a watermelon isn’t expensive, so I thought this was great.

Overall I would say these products aren’t worth the money for me. They might work great for a different skin type though. I have better luck with my Aveeno moisturizer and my DIY face mask. I really like the idea of these products but they just didn’t work great for me. If you want to test them out as well, get a sample from Sephora.

  1. I have this set too and I’m still deciding how I feel about it. I prefer the moisturizer to the mask, but tend to use it more as a serum for hydration underneath an oil-based product. The moisturizer with Umbra Tinte has been my go-to combo this summer and I’m enjoying it! My favourite mask would have to be the Drunk Elephant Babyfacial, although it is really expensive. You only need to use it once per week though. Great post! I’ll have to try using the watermelon!
