Hey everyone! Today I am going to be giving you some ideas on how to save money that you will actually do. I am trying to save money right now and I figured that you all might enjoy this as well. First, please follow me to see posts every Friday and enjoy!
Coffee
First, I am going to start out with the addiction that we all have… coffee. I know most of us like to get coffee from a coffee shop, instead of making it ourselves. I recommend that you try out making it yourself. If you just can’t make it for yourself, make sure that you aren’t buying super expensive, sweet coffee. Get a cheap coffee that isn’t as fancy.
Thrifting
Next, go thrift shopping instead of going to expensive stores. I really like to go thrift shopping because you can get cute clothes for so much cheaper! I also like to shop in the mens section because you will most likely be able to find clothes that look like Brandy Melville if you crop them.
Clean Out Your Stuff
Another way to save money is to make sure that you aren’t just hoarding your old stuff. I just sold a bunch of my old clothes and made some money. I recommend using the app OfferUp or something like it instead of Poshmark. I have had way more luck selling my clothes in bundles than a single item on Poshmark. Basically, just sell the things that you don’t use.
Turn Off The Lights
Something that may seem obvious is to turn off the lights. Just make sure that your utility bill is low by not racking up money when you don’t have to. Turn off the lights when you aren’t home or in the room. Also, make sure that you aren’t paying for any expenses that you don’t use like Hulu. Review the things that you pay for every now and then to make sure you actually still want to be purchasing them.
Don’t Go Out To Eat
Something else that is pretty obvious is to not go out to eat. I know it can be hard, but start cooking your own food. Not only does this save money, but it is better for you. Also, when you go to the grocery store don’t get extras. Write a list at home of the things you actually need and then don’t buy anything that’s not on it.
Set A Budget
Every pay check set a budget of “extra” spending money. Use that money to buy things that aren’t normal purchases like shampoo, a face wash, or something you are out of. Then with the extra money you can use that as money to buy yourself something extra or put it in savings.
Retail Me Not
Retail Me Not is a free app that has a lot of coupons for a bunch of different stores. Honestly, it has saved me so much money and I use it whenever I can. Make sure that when you do go shopping that you are using coupons or discount codes whenever you can!
Have A Goal!
Lastly, give yourself a goal for what you are saving up for, whether it is a vacation, a new phone or something larger like a house. Every time you are tempted to buy something extra imagine your goal and it will help you criticize your spending.

Am I your only reader who does not drink coffee? lol
Good money saving tips. I’ve found that creating a weekly menu and prepping food for my lunches ahead of time really helps me stay out of restaurants so I can save more money! I’m putting my savings into my retirement accounts, as the compound interest really grows over the years.

These are really great and actionable tips! I recently started making my own coffee instead of going to Starbucks, and it’s so much better on my wallet (plus it’s healthier, since I always got something fancy there!). I also like having a goal, because it gives a real reason and incentive to save. Thank you for sharing this great list!

What has helped me immensely for not going to restaurants is to keep track of my no restaurant days and my no spend days. I put it right in my budget book that I look at everyday and make a budget at least monthly. Only problem is I don’t have an excuse to spend money anymore! Great tips. I am not a coffee drinker but I used to spend too much money on pop and other sugary drinks. Now I just make my drinks at home and I am satisfied with just ordering water when I have to.
