Diving Into Proverbs | sin

Hey everyone! Today I am going to be talking about something a little different. I have been doing Sofia Conte’s bible study that she has been doing on Instagram. She is going through Proverbs and posting everyday of July about it. So far, I have loved it and I thought it was such a great idea. It inspired me to post about it and something that I read during it. If you are interested in joining (which I highly recommend) or you are just curious, go check out her Instagram.

Ok, so a while ago in Proverbs I read something that really spoke to me and something that I hadn’t thought deeply about. In Proverbs 5, it spoke about sin and how the Lord is always watching you. That can either be a comfort to you or kind of scare you. It worked both ways for me. Don’t think about it as he is constantly analyzing your moves, instead he is watching to see if you listen to him and follow his path that he has for you. It should be a comfort that he is always with you.

It spoke about how sin will appear sweet but truly, it always ends up being evil. Instead of being jealous of someone and what they have, follow God’s wisdom and truth to find your own path. I know this can be hard because maybe one of your friends has a super nice car, but you don’t know their whole story. Maybe they are deep in debt and God is guiding you to a road that will provide you with a stable job to make money. I know this sounds hard to do, and it is definitely not the easy way to get things, but it is so peaceful. I can tell you right now that the closer I get to God, the more peaceful I feel.

The last thing I wanted to talk about is sin. For me, it is kind of difficult to identify sins in my life. Especially when they are just thoughts. Something I am going to try and work on is cutting sin out of my life. You may think that this is kind of obvious and that’s what I thought too. I never considered that maybe when I look at Instagram that I am comparing myself to others harshly or that a book I am reading might not be the best. So I am going to try to work on doing just that, cutting out the things that cause me to sin and I encourage you to do that as well. As Proverbs 1:7 says, we should accept his wisdoms and instruction.

Those are just some of my thoughts on what I have been reading in Proverbs. I encourage you to join in on this bible study for the month of July if you want to put more effort into your faith. Also, thank you to Sofia Conte for starting this because I think that it is an amazing idea to help so many people! If you like these types of posts or want to see more, it would mean a lot if you subscribed! Also, leave me a comment below about your thoughts on what I said! Also, thank you for reading!           -Briana
