Vacation to Canada and a change | Life Update 9

Hey everyone! It’s another one of my life updates! I feel like I have quite a bit to talk about in this post, so get ready. Also, I just want to say that I really appreciate it when you guys leave a comment. I am always so surprised when you are interested in my life. Anyways, before I start don’t forget to subscribe and enjoy!

ps. I included a long talk about a change in my content and also about what we spoke about in church the other day at the end of this post 🙂

Canada

First of all, I recently got back from my trip to Canada. I went to Penticton Canada with my best friend and her dad. It was so much fun! We stayed at her aunts house, who lived on the lake and has a small vineyard.

We did quite a bit of swimming. The first day, my friend and I were swimming in the lake when there was a thunder and lightning storm near by. We stayed in the lake for about a half hour more (lol I know that was kind of dumb) before we got out.

We also got to float down the river for a couple of hours. I actually got pretty burnt but I also got pretty tan 🙂

Signs from God

Something else I wanted to talk about was signs from God. I have been kind of stressed out lately and I have prayed to God about it. Anyways, I started coincidentally seeing something that started to get weird because I kept seeing it. I’m not going to say what it is, just because I feel like it’s kind of between us. Each time I see it, I know to trust God and not worry.

Anyways, I wanted to encourage you to ask God for a sign or just a feeling that he is watching over you and he knows what he is doing. If you aren’t a Christian, but you don’t know if God is real or not please just ask for a sign or for him to show himself to you.

Job

I haven’t gotten a job quite yet, but I know it’s coming and I am trusting God. I just applied to be a gymnastics teacher for kids at a gym near me. I feel like that would be pretty fun, but being a teacher also sounds kind of intimidating to me as well.

I also just applied to work at my local community college watching kids while their parents are taking classes. I really hope that both of these jobs work out because that would be perfect! 🙂

hint: I just got an interview for the gymnastics teacher one, so pray for me that it works out and goes well! Also, leave any interview tips in the comments.

End of Summer

Now that it is the end of summer, my sister has started school already and my mom started working. That means that my days have gotten a lot more boring. For some reason, this really gets to me. It makes me frustrated to be bored and just sitting at home. If this happens to you, let me know and also let me know what you do when this happens.

New Content

I recently realized that I am too focused on what gets views, so instead I will be writing about more of what I want to. I also haven’t wanted to write a ton on Christianity because I know some of you don’t read these kinds of posts, but I am going to be now so… I used to not want to write about religion because it can be controversial but then I remembered that I do have an audience which is why I should write about it. I find it strange that some celebrities, YouTubers, bloggers, etc say that they are Christians when they don’t even talk about God. It doesn’t make sense to me that they say that God is so important in their lives yet they don’t talk about their faith at all.

Even though I am only 18 and a teenager, I am going to be talking about my faith. It isn’t perfect by any means at all, but I still want to share it because it is very important to me. I hope that by doing this I can help some of you with your faith and maybe be able to discuss things with others. If you aren’t religious, I will be posting a bunch of other types of posts but I wanted to explain why my Christianity posts will grow in number.

Ok, by now you are probably wondering what this post is about. I am going to be talking a little bit about what we talked about in church today. Hopefully I can do posts like this every now and then to help both of us understand the word of God and what being a Christian means a little better. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.

In church today we spoke about the Parable of the Sower which is in Matthew 13:1-23. I thought this was really interesting and my Pastor used examples that really got through to me which I will also share with you. So, the Sower is the Lord Jesus and the seed is the word of God. When he plants the seed, some of us will accept it and love it but ignore it in times when it gets tough. For example, my Pastor said that it is similar to the seed being planted in shallow ground. It would grow pretty easily because it is warm and the water would gather around the seed, but then when the sun comes out it would just dry up and die. This is similar to what my Pastor calls a hardened heart.

A hardened heart, if I understood correctly, was when you don’t fully trust God in your life. It doesn’t mean that you don’t believe in him, it just means that there are some barriers in the way of your relationship.

Another type of “soil” is the seed among thorns. This means that you are good, but you are distracted by the things of this world.

He also spoke about something that really made me think. He said that we tend to think good of ourselves but really we are the bad guys and we need to start recognizing it. He also said that no one knows your heart like Jesus does and he knows it better than even you.

Ok, so we do an application at the end of each sermon which is how you can apply this to your life and also how you can do better at what we spoke about. This week the Pastor said to examine your heart. Figure out which one you are, whether you are good but distracted or are you not fully grounded in your faith. Asking the Lord for help is what I do every time I feel troubled because he will listen. Also, acknowledge that you aren’t the good guy that is perfect because that doesn’t exist.

Anyways, that is what we spoke about in church. Earlier this week I was feeling really anxious and troubled but after going to church it made me feel so much better. Above is a picture of the notes from our church if you want to look at them for yourself. Thank you so much for reading this post. I hope you have a great week. Also, if you have any topics that you want me to talk about or if you just want to chat, leave me a comment down below! 🙂                                                                                                           – Briana
