Tips to be Healthy :)

Hey everyone! Today I am going to be talking about my health journey including healthy food, exercise and a bit of mental health as well. I am trying to really be the best I can be this year. Before I start, please subscribe to my blog and enjoy. Also, leave me a comment at the end with any recommendations or thoughts you have.

* Don’t compare yourself to these images I have included. I like to use them as motivation to workout and be healthy. You are perfect how you are! But also, take care of yourself by being the best (and healthiest) you can be 🙂 I love to see how happy and strong these amazing women are! (also, none of these are me)

Working out always makes me feel healthy and just good in general. I try to workout around twice a day. I will alternate between a couple different workouts and I also customize them a little for different days, depending on how I am feeling.

The first thing I will talk about is ab day. I use the workout app Workout Women. It’s a free app with a lot of workouts. It also talks you through them which I love so that I get done fast and don’t get distracted. On a day when I am feeling good and I feel like I want to do something hard, I do the Angel Abs workout. It is 26 minutes long and kind of difficult but I really like it. If you do this every day for a week you will definitely see a difference. On top of this ab workout I also like to do some other type of workout. Most of the time I will either go on a mile walk or run on the elliptical for about 10 minutes.

Next, is cardio day. On cardio day I will go on the elliptical for about 12-20 minutes or longer if I feel like it. Depending on how long I am on the elliptical I might do an ab workout. I like to do the 7 Minute Ab workout on the same app if I do anything. Sometimes just the elliptical is enough.

Short and easier types of exercise are also my favorite, like going on a walk. I go on a walk before I head off to school. Normally, I will listen to some worship music, take my dog with me and enjoy nature for about 20 minutes before the crazy day starts.

Also, a little tip! If you get cute or new workout clothes you will want to workout more to wear them.

GOAL: This year I am working on actually going to a gym to workout.

I try to eat pretty healthy but I am not on a strict diet. I am allergic to dairy and beef, so I tend to stay away from those things. Since I am allergic to those things, I shop for vegan things. I don’t eat vegan, but I would like to eventually.

I make sure to eat a lot of fruit and vegetables. Something else that I don’t eat is sugar. Sugar is so terrible for you and I notice a huge difference in how I feel if I don’t eat it. I also try not to eat a lot of carbohydrates. I recommend that you get some allergy testing done to see what foods you are allergic to. Once you cut those things out of your diet it makes you feel a lot better!

I do not keep track of how many calories I eat. Instead, I focus on how I feel and if I am hungry or not. Counting calories can get addictive and I have learned that it is not a healthy thing for me to do. I also do not weigh myself, because muscle does weigh more than fat, so if you gain weight it could be just you loosing fat and gaining muscle. Weight feels inaccurate to me, so I don’t even think about it.

Even though I don’t count how many calories I eat, I do keep track of how many I burn on my Apple Watch. I only do this because it is a good way to measure how active I have been through out the day.

GOAL: Focus on feeling good and do not think about calories.

healthy habits

There are at ton of different things that you can do daily in order to keep being healthy but here are a couple. First, getting enough sleep is so important because it is what sets you up for the day. Drinking a lot of water is also so important and great for you. Taking time for yourself and giving yourself breaks is also important for your mental and physical health. Smiling and doing things that make you happy are something you should do more. Also, going out in nature or going outside for a workout is a great way to make it more enjoyable and beneficial.

Those are some tips that I am working on and have been doing lately to stay healthy! Thank you so much for reading and I hope you enjoyed it! Don’t forget to like, comment and subscribe!                                                                                                       – Briana

Question: what do you do to stay healthy or what do you want to work on?

  1. I can’t find the 7 minute women app 😦 that ab workout sounds like fun!

I’m all for Heck Vegan Breakfast Sausages right now bc I’m struggling with food prep and vegetables – they’ve inspired me to try and create my own vegan sausages in the future when I get my mojo back too!

    1. Oh, thank you for letting me know! It looks like they updated their app to Workout Women instead. (Its pink with a white W on it). I’ve never tried vegan sausages but I love black bean patties. Thanks for reading! 🙂

  2. Hello, I’ve started getting into fitness more for health reasons. I really enjoyed your post and will take some of your tips into my routine!. I work out in the mornings before work and have been looking for a meal replacement for breakfast. Do you use a certain vegan free protein shake? I’ve been looking into Vega One nutritional shakes and was wondering if you had any opinions about it?!

    Thank you 🙂

    1. Thanks for reading! The one I use is the Vega protein and greens chocolate powder. I’m not sure if this one is different from the one you were talking about. It is pretty filling and also tastes really good!
