Where is your energy going? |1 John 2:17-18

Hey everyone and welcome back to my thoughts. Today I am going to be talking about a few things that I have learned while studying the Bible. I will also be popping in some of my favorite quotes recently for you to enjoy. If you don’t know, I am a Christian and I study the Bible every day. P.S I would love to talk to you about faith or anything else, so leave me a comment or message me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/justmythoughtsblogs/  @justmythoughtsblogs Anyways, enjoy!

1 John 2:17-18  The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever. Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.

I really liked this bit from the Bible because it puts everything into perspective for me. The things on this earth don’t matter. Money, fame, titles, jobs, houses, don’t matter in the end. I know it can be easy to dwell on these types of things but God is reminding us here that the word of God is more important than all of that because it brings us closer to him and eternal life.

Something that I find hard is focusing on my outer appearance. I like to dwell on my outfits and makeup or my hair. Even though there is nothing wrong with enjoying these things, they don’t define you. I would much rather have a beautiful, kind personality that reflects God, than beautiful hair or a great wardrobe. Those things aren’t going to bring me closer to heaven, they will most likely push me in the opposite direction.

I am not saying that you can’t want money or a nice car, but don’t focus on those things too much. They won’t necessarily make you a better person or closer to God, which is what you should strive to be.

Something I am working on right now is investing time that I spend on other things, to God and my relationship with him instead. Ask yourself how much time you spend on social media or watching TV. Then you tell yourself that praying for a couple of minutes or dedicating a couple of minutes to studying the Bible will kill you. Be aware of what you invest your time into.

In the verses above it refers to the antichrist. How I interpreted this is that the antichrist is anything that is instead of Jesus. How many different antichrists do you have in your life? I can think of some for me, my phone, TV, working sometimes, etc. What takes up time in your life that isn’t helping your relationship with God?

This verse also makes it quite clear that God can come at any time and that the world will not win against him. This is a warning for us to be prepared for his arrival because it will come when there are many antichrists. The world is full of hate and terrible things, but don’t contribute to that.

Some things that you can work on are:

  • Focus on your personality
  • Focus on your relationship with God
  • Pray
  • Ask yourself, is Jesus just an add on for me?
  • Depend on God more than yourself
  • Spend time with God instead of antichrists
  • Be kind and try to reflect God in everything you do
  • Know that God is working on you and helping you every step of the way

Hopefully this post helped you some with your faith and helped you understand this verse a little better. I am only 18, so I obviously don’t know everything but I would love to know your thoughts down below. I would also love to know what your favorite verse is and why down below! Thank you so much for reading and please subscribe because it honestly means the world.

Question: What is your favorite Bible verse or quote and why?

  1. I really learned a lot about what you mentioned about the antichrist. I originally just thought it was people that were against Christ but now I know it can be something just as unsuspecting as your phone or tv. I’m also very inspired by this website and how God is using someone around my age to do something so profound. Thanks for your words of wisdom!

  2. This is so uplifting I really enjoyed reading it, its made me really think and want to evaluate what I focus on and spend time doing. I need to see what is truly worthwhile… my favourite quote by Sheri L Dew “Novle and great. Courageous and determined. That is who you are and who you have always been and who we may become” As we focus less on the world and more on Christ we see ourselves in a different light, life is less about the next best outfit or tik tok trend and about our divine potential and our purpose here on earth 💛
