no heat

Something that is pretty easy for me to do is not use heat on my hair. Heat will fry and damage your hair which will make it look crispy and unhealthy when it gets long. There are a lot of no heat hairstyles or different ways to curl or straighten your hair without heat. If you put your hair in braids over night you will end up with pretty waves in the morning. You can also just brush out your hair when it is wet and it will give it a straightened effect when it drys.

tight hairstyles

When your hair is in tight hairstyles it will damage your hair and increase breakage. That is something that you definitely don’t want when you are trying to grow out healthy hair. Having your hair in a tight high pony tail isn’t very great for it. Something I have been doing instead is wearing it in a high bun. I will push and pin the bun forward (higher) up onto my head so that the front is almost poofed up and not as tight. Also, leaving your hair down when you can is best for it, especially at night.

masks

Something that helps my hair feel very healthy is doing a hair mask. I try to do a hair mask once a week. I use greek yogurt, honey, egg yolk and apple cider vinegar in my hair mask. I try to leave that on for at least a few hours before I wash it out. I also used to use coconut oil, but I heard that that can clog your hair and it is also difficult to get out.

showers

I like to have nice clean hair, but we shouldn’t shower too much. In order to keep your hair healthy you should only take a shower about twice a week. Staggering between taking a shower in the morning and a shower at night can spread out your showers a bit. Also, brushing the natural oil through out your hair is healthy for it.

products

Since we won’t be showering super often I feel like dry shampoo is a necessity. It is still important to make sure that the products you use aren’t damaging your hair. Choose products that are very natural and actually good for your hair. I really want to try out the Lush shampoo bar in New because of how natural their products are.

cold rinse

After I am done taking a shower I will rinse out my hair with cold water. This helps increase shine and I’ve heard it helps your hair stay strong. Also just want to add that when your hair is wet make sure you are being gentle with it because you don’t want to damage it.

food

Certain foods can help your hair stay healthy and grow faster. Salmon, almonds, egg, avocado, spinach, yogurt, and other vegetables are great for that. Supplements like fish oil can also do that. Lastly, drinking water helps everything so staying hydrated is a must!

Those are some of the things that I will be doing to help my hair grow! Let me know if there are any tips that I don’t know off too! You can head over to my Instagram to see a pic of my hair now and keep up with my hair journey.
