Happy Friday to you all and welcome back to another Grace Project post 🙂 If you don’t know what that is you can read a short explanation here. Today I am going to be talking about something very dear to my heart and that is Australia. My goal for this post is not to make you sad (there are some disturbing facts and images) but to raise awareness and encourage you to donate with me. If you know me at all, you know it is one of my dreams to travel to Australia and work with the wildlife there. It breaks my heart to hear about the fires in Australia and all the wildlife that has been affected there. I wanted to give you some facts about the Australia fires and then leave you with several links that you can donate to.

There are so many heart breaking facts about the devastation these fires have caused to the animals. Over half a billion animals have died in these fires. Many more have lost their homes and source of food and water. Animals are sprinting away from the fires and literally yelling for help. Many organizations are attempting to rescue and help animals in need but they can’t keep up with them all. There are also several animals that could go extinct from this terrible event. Around 30% of the Koala population is said to have been affected just like the one shown above. This Koala was rescued and being looked after in an animal hospital.

Not only are the animals suffering, but obviously people too. Smoke conditions are awful and people are in danger. Many people have had to evacuate their homes and get to safety. 26 people have been killed including several firefighters. While we are talking about firefighters, most are actually volunteers that are risking their lives.

I wish that I could fly across the world and help in some way but that is not realistic. Instead, I am donating to one of the links that I provided down below. Just know that any amount of money that you donate is going to help an animal or a person that desperately needs it. Here are some links that I have found to help out people and animals:

Longer list of links to donate to : https://www.nytimes.com/2020/01/06/world/australia/help-australia-fires.html

I think it is important to step up and donate in order to help when something like this happens. Even if you already donated to some organization this month or even if you have only $1, it still needs to be done.

Let me just say that it not only will do so much good even if you donate a little, because think of how much good it can do if 1000 people donate 1 dollar, but it also means a lot to me. Just know that I will be donating with you and I do not make any money off of this post. Thank you for reading and let me know if you donate too 🙂
