Using your time for God

Hey everyone 🙂 I hope you are all staying safe and healthy! I know a lot of you are probably bored during this time but today I am going to be talking about using this time for God. First, if you want to, scroll down and subscribe so that you don’t miss any of my posts. Enjoy!

Don’t get me wrong, I am not perfect at this and I definitely spend to much time on TikTok or Netflix, but it’s something that we can all work on. Managing our time and using our time for God! One thing that I recently realized was how I was prioritizing earthly things over my relationship with God and the happiness that he brings me. Just ask yourself, what gives me happiness in life? Money, shopping, material things? We need to remember that those things will eventually fade away and that God is the most important (James 1:9-11). It’s not bad to want these things, but for them to be our source of happiness and what our heart longs for, that is not ok. We need to first seek the kingdom of God and he will provide us with what we need (Matthew 6:33).

Take a second to think about your time? How much time do you spend watching Tv… on social media… now how much time do you spend with God? We need to give God our full attention, not just part of it. God tells us to fix our minds on heaven, not earthly things (Colossians 2:16). These things will not only take away our time, but they draw us away from Jesus without us even realizing it. It is so easy to spend time on social media, but when we are praying or studying the Bible we suddenly don’t have much time.

Many of you may be searching for ways to strengthen your relationship with God, but really all you need to do is actively seek a relationship with him. If you were pursuing a relationship with a guy but didn’t give him your time or attention, the relationship would definitely not work out. We need to be careful about how we are living on this earth and understand what God wants us to do. God calls us to make the most of every opportunity (Ephesians 5:15-17). So how are you using this time? You don’t have to do something huge, but use your time wisely.

I am not telling you to spend every minute praying and studying the Bible but be aware of how you are using your time and where your focus is. If we seek God with our whole heart we will find him (Jeremiah 29:13). Also, find some things that you love to do that also may strengthen your relationship with God or bring glory to him. There are so many things that you can do and you can even incorporate something on this list in your other daily activities or chores. Here are some things that you can do:

  • Say a prayer
  • Listen to some worship music
  • Go on a walk
  • Talk to someone and share some love
  • Read the Bible
  • Tidy up your life (analyzing your time)
  • Read a spiritual book
  • Start a Bible study
  • Share your faith
  • Listen to a sermon
  • Join a Christian group chat
  • Make a TikTok or video about your faith/Bible study
  • Forgive someone
  • Journal or prayer journal
  • Use a daily devotional
  • Donate time or money if you can
  • Share a Bible verse
  • Meditation with prayer
  • Quiet time
  • Live or online Bible study
  • Doodle some quotes or verses
  • Message a friend

Make sure that this week you are truly prioritizing your faith over things that will pull you away from God. If you want to hear from me some more follow my Instagram. Thank you so much for reading and have a great day 🙂
