How to share your faith (9 Tips)

Hey 🙂 I know that so many people either are a little nervous to share their faith or they don’t know how. Hopefully this post will help you grow in that area and figure out some ways that you can share your faith! Also, if you haven’t subscribed make sure you do so by scrolling all the way down and entering your email. Enjoy!

First, we need to understand that we are called to share our faith. It is important to live for God in private and in our hearts, but we also need to share our faith with others. Mark 16:15 tells us to go into the world and proclaim the gospel! This can be intimidating, especially if you are not used to talking about your faith. In this post I will give you some tips on how you can share the faith and spread God’s love with others. I watched this video and it was helpful as well if you want a few more tips 🙂

The first and most important step is to pray! I always pray for wisdom and for God to guide me while I share His word. Pray that God helps you be able to share the gospel and helps to guide you. He will bring you to the right person and give you the words that you need to say. All we have to do is come to Him and ask. If you are worried that people will judge you, pray. If you don’t know if you have the wisdom, pray.

read your Bible

Next, in order to share God’s love and word you need to know it! I’m not saying that you can’t share your own story, but how can we spread the gospel without knowing it? We need to study and understand the Bible for ourselves so that we can share correct information with others. There are many false teachers who don’t refer to the word or base their teachings off of the Bible. Don’t be one of them. So definitely study your Bible!

live in a Godly way

Something that you may not realize is that you are sharing your faith every day. How you act, what you say, what you wear, it all shares about who you are and your faith. We want to make sure that as Christians we are acting in a way that will bring people to God, not scare them away. One of the best ways that you can share your faith is just by living in a Godly way! We want to spread the fruit of the Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control) that Galatians 5:22-23 talks about. We don’t want to be recognized for being mean or impatient, we want people to recognize how kind or happy we are.

social media

Social media can be a great way to share your faith. If you are worried, start by sharing a quote or a pic you snapped while Bible studying. Once you get comfortable you can start to share the Gospel, not just to your friends but to as many people as possible. Social media is a great way to connect with others who maybe need to talk to someone about faith or for you to reach out to other Christians. You could also recommend someone on social media who has great information about the Gospel.

plant a seed

Some people may seem totally against being a Christian or at least don’t want to talk about it. I encourage you to pray for those people, but don’t be scared to talk to them a bit about it. Don’t push it on them, just mention it and maybe invite them to church. Give them a taste of what being a Christian is like and explain your story. Doing this will plant a seed in their mind or open a door. As I spoke about earlier if they see how you are living they might slowly recognize that they are interested in Christianity. They will know who they can talk to if they are interested but also know that you aren’t forceful or judgmental.

Speaking about your faith will strengthen your faith and others! Talk to your friends about your faith, even your Christian friends! If you aren’t comfortable sharing your faith with nonbelievers yet, don’t worry. Just talking about your faith to anyone will help you get started. Doing Bible studies with others or participating in a small group are all great ways to get you sharing your faith. Once you have the opportunity to chat with someone about Christianity, take it!

People are curious about Christianity, God, sin, etc. We have to be prepared for what they are going to ask. 1 Peter 3:15 tells us to be prepared to answer why we are a Christian, but it commands us to do so with gentleness and respect. A friend may ask you a question about your faith or the Bible, so we have to be able to know how to respond. Like I said, the best way to do this is by reading your Bible and knowing God. Spend some time thinking about how God has changed your life or about your testimony. One of the most amazing things is hearing how God works in others lives so start with that.

be real

I won’t lie, there are a lot of people who are a Christian for reasons other than they want to follow Jesus. It isn’t wrong to like your friends at Church or the cute Bible pics you can get, but it is so important to be real about your faith. We all struggle and Christians aren’t perfect. Don’t just share the aesthetic parts about being a Christian, share your story. Share about your struggles and how the Lord is helping you or has helped you through them.

His work through us

Don’t be worried friend! We have to trust God and how he will use us. Remember that we don’t have to rely on our own knowledge or strength because God is with us! (Matthew 28:20) He is on our side and wants us to share His word. Of course he will give us wisdom and the ability to do as He asks. Remember that God works through us!

I hope this post helped you learn some tips on how you can share your faith effectively. Let me know if you have any other ideas or comments on how you share your faith. Thank you for reading and have an amazing day 🙂
