Making time for God

Hey guys πŸ™‚ Now that school has started and things are starting to open back up, you have probably been struggling a bit to make time for God. I think this is something we are all going through right now. I mean think of it, we went from having hours of free time to like none. So, I hope this post gives you some ideas of how you can make time for God in your busy life πŸ™‚

So, the title of this post is a bit off, I know. What I really mean is how to prioritize God as the most important thing in your life. It hit me a few months ago that God is even more important than school. Our lives should be centered around God, so it is certainly important for us to center our lives around Him and nothing else. With that being said, here are some tips that help me spend time with God each day.

Utilize the Morning

Something I think we all sleep on (haha) is our free time in the morning. Maybe you like to sleep in an hour or spend some extra time sipping your coffee and watching TV. Whatever it is, start utilizing your mornings. For those of you who are super crazy busy through out the day consider spending time with God before the day even starts. You can take some time to read your Bible or find some other way to incorporate God into your routine. Even just listening to worship music during your workout can help you feel so connected to God right when your day starts.

Prayer

A while ago I was awful at remembering to pray to God through out the day. I would just get busy and focused on other things that God kind of got pushed to the side. I’m not an expert or anything but I have learned how helpful and beneficial it can be to pray through out the day. Once you start to pray to God about the smaller things in life, you will see Him in other things. For example, if you thank God for the nice weather, you will regularly start to think of Him and pray to Him when the weather is nice. So, try to incorporate simple prayers through out your day about everything.

Split it Up

I like to spend some time studying my Bible each day (which is so helpful!) but it can be difficult when I have classes or something else. It helps me to split it up. There is no rule saying if you can’t do your Bible study in the amount of time you have then you just shouldn’t do it. Spend 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there whenever you have time. I tend to use this as an excuse sometimes, but if you split up the time it is definitely more manageable.

Quality Over Quantity

Let me remind you that the amount of time we spend studying the Bible isn’t as important as what we get out of it. I am super bad at trying to rush through reading the Bible to read more of it. What we should really be doing is digging in deep and seeking to truly understand what it is saying. So, instead of trying to read more of the Bible, try to get the most out of what you are reading.

Put Him First

I know how easy it can be to just turn on a bit of TV before you spend time with God, but like I said earlier, it is so important to prioritize God. This sort of goes with the morning tip, but put God before other things. Before you switch on the TV, spend time with God. Before you do you chores, spend time with God. It can be easy to push off spending time with God if you have other stuff to do. We will always have other stuff to get done, what’s important is that we focus our lives on God.

Daily Reminders

There are so many little practical ways to include God into your life that hardly take any time. I like to write down my favorite verse or verses I am working on on a little sticky note and placing it on my mirror. It serves as a reminder for me through out the day. I also recommend downloading the Bible App so that you have the Bible with you everywhere you go. That way when you have a spare minute you can get a few verses in. Something that I have actually found super helpful is memorizing scripture. When you have God’s word in your head it is so much easier to meditate on it and just be aware of it. Lastly, listening to worship music or a Christian podcast while you drive is another way to spend a bit more time with God.

I hope these tips helped you some. If you want to see more of my Christian content, definitely follow me on Instagram. Also, feel free to follow me on here by scrolling all the way down and entering your email address. I hope you all have an amazing day πŸ™‚
