I am sure that at some point in the last week each of you have been stressed out about the election, politics, riots or anything to do with that no matter who you voted for. I totally understand and I have felt that way as well. Today at church my pastor spoke about how Christians should be reacting and acting through out stress like this and I wanted to share it with you guys too. I think we can all use this time to grow in our faith.
The thing that he said that stood out to me was that nothing in this world should be able to shake us, we are stable in God. When we are so rooted in God, nothing in this world can make us fall down. This basically stems back to trusting God even when things feel out of your control. Something that helps me is reading my Bible and marking verses that stand out to me, then that way you can go back through and look at them when you need to.
I am sure some of you, like me, are very disappointed in the hate that has been shown through out this period of time. I want to remind you that as Christians, and people as whole, we should love everyone. It doesn’t matter who they voted for, at all. Just because you are frustrated about politics, does not mean that we should stop living as God wants us to. God doesn’t tell us that we should love those who agree with us, He says we need to show love towards EVERYONE. This includes respecting others whom you don’t agree with.
For those of you who have been breaking relationships, leaving mean comments, complaining or anything similar, please realize that that is not how God wants us to react. I am definitely guilty of some of these things as well. I urge you to pray. The Bible tells us to pray for our enemies and those in leadership positions. As Christians, we should show love to everyone and pray for those who need it. You never know what someone is going through and how someone acting kind towards them (maybe when it’s not expected) can impact them. Remember that sometimes the only experience outsiders have with Christianity is us.
Here are some verse that may be helpful to read right now:
- John 13:34-35
- 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
- Romans 8:1-19
- Hebrews 12:14
- Romans 12:9-19
- Philippians 2:3-4
So, as you go out into the world this week please share some love and kindness during these times. Remember to live as Christians should be living and as God calls us to live. Trust that God has us each in the palm of His hand. Also, I will be praying for you guys ❤ Feel free to follow me on instagram for some more Christian content 🙂 have an amazing week.
