Weekly Encouragement: When you feel lost

Hello everyone 🙂 Today I am going to be chatting with you and sharing some encouragement for this week. I want this to be like a short devotional with some scripture and quotes that may help to encourage you. Let me know if you want to see more of these posts and don’t forget to subscribe.

For this weeks post I am going to be going through Luke 15’s Parable of the Lost Sheep. If you are following along on the Luke Challenge (reading one chapter a day) then you recently read this! I don’t know about you guys, but I have been feeling a bit lost lately. Whether you feel like you are drifting from God or whether you feel a bit lost in life, hopefully this helps you.

In this parable, there are 100 sheep, but 1 gets lost. Instead of keeping the 99 sheep safe, the shepherd searches for the 1 sheep until he finds it. When the shepherd finds the sheep he is so happy! He takes the sheep that was lost and carries it. The shepherd is obviously Jesus and we are the sheep. Being the sheep, we need to recognize that there is no way we will find our way back on our own, it is hopeless. We should also realize that Jesus left the 99 sheep to care for the 1. He is focused on the sheep that is in danger and will rejoice when it is saved.

So, what does this mean for us? Even when we feel lost, Jesus has found us. We are never alone, Jesus is always inviting us back to Him. James 4:8 tells us that when we draw near to the Lord, God draws near to us. It has taken me a while to realize that I really can’t just do everything myself, I truly do need Jesus. The little sheep would have been doomed on its own, but thanks to its shepherd, it was carried away from the danger. Jesus is offering to carry us and bring us to Him. Jesus cares about each of us, especially those of us who sin and need to repent. Through this parable we can see Him and all of Heaven rejoice when we repent.

Through out your week please remember that Jesus is with you. Remember that you are not alone and you are not truly lost. Jesus is waiting for you to lean on Him. I suggest reading through all of Luke 15 if you want to read more about this topic. I also highly recommend using Enduring Word commentary which is very helpful. Write down your favorite verses on a sticky note or make it your phone wallpaper. Any way to help you remember God’s love for YOU!

Thank you for reading! If you would like to see more of my content definitely follow me on Instagram. I hope you all have an amazing rest of your week. Lots of love,
