Hello, I hope you are all having a great week so far! Today I am bringing you some encouragement from the Bible!!! Before I get into what I want to say, make sure that you are subscribed so that you don’t miss any of my posts. Also, let me know any topics that you want me to talk about.
This week I am going to be talking about how God has chosen us. When I think of my personal relationship with God, I tend to start to think of the thousands of other people who have a relationship with God. I ask myself how God can truly care about me and know me when he knows and loves so many others. First, I think there are some topics and ideas that our brains just can’t comprehend. We think of this as a human would, how it is almost impossible to have an intimate relationship with thousands and thousands of people. But remember, God is not human!!! He is not limited like we are. He truly knows you and He truly knows me.
I was reading my Bible study this week and I found some amazing verses and quotes that I wanted to share. Sometimes I picture myself reaching out to an imaginary God, grasping for any way to connect with Him. However, what we don’t realize is that we wouldn’t have the desire or ability to reach out to God if He did not choose us first. In The Lion, Witch and Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis, Aslan says, “You would not have called to me unless I had been calling to you.” In this book and movie, Aslan has so many connections to Jesus. This quote really helped me to understand that Jesus reached out to me before I even comprehended who He was. I just get an amazing image of Jesus reaching out to me. John 15:16 says, “You did not choose me, but I chose you.” Also, off topic, but that movie helps to understand some of the “childlike wonder” in my faith.
Not only does God know and care for you, but He has a deep love for you. When we think of the ultimate love in our life, we think of someone who would do anything for us, who loves us more than they love themselves. John 15:13 says, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down One’s life for One’s friends.” Just take a moment to think about the pain and sacrifice that Jesus went through because He loved YOU so much! I have a hard time even understanding that because I didn’t see it happen, but that’s what makes it so amazing. That before we were even born, Jesus loved us and died for us.
To whoever is reading this, God wants you to know that He chose you for a reason and loves you. Jesus personally thought of you as He was on the cross. This knowledge helps me feel more motivated to get to know God and hopefully it helps you as well! Thank you for reading this and let me know if you found it helpful. I also want to invite you all to join me in the #28daysofacts challenge. This is a super simple challenge where you read one chapter of Acts each day of February!
